Sigmund Freud’s theory of motivation


This is a psycho-analytical theory. It states that unconscious motives influence consumer behavior. Consumers repress many urges in the process of growing up and socialization. These urges are never eliminate and unconsciously motivate consumer behavior.
In other words consumer are directed not only by their conscious but their subconscious as well.
